1/2/10

I made it here 3 days in a row. Maybe I will stick with this.

Today was a real bum day! We went out for breakfast, then bought a pair of swim trunks for Dad since he is to start his water therapy this week. I think it's kind of hard to find swimwear in Toledo this time of year. We got those sent out Priority Mail so hopefully he'll have them by the time his therapy starts.

We went to Millenia Mall, Orlando's most upscale mall, but has some great stores there! Ryan sent me a gift card for Christmas so I was looking for some new kitchen stuff. I bought a great crepe pan, some new measuring cups, and some other things we can use around the house. It hit me that Jennifer is soon turning 30 so we shopped for her birthday too. We bought her a combination of things for her house that we think she'll like, but also some personal things, just for her. I hate when you only get stuff to work around the house for a gift!

After coming home I showed Scott the WII Fit program that I've been doing, fairly successfully, and he decided to do it too. He had a good time with it, so maybe this will be something that works for both of us.

We decided that today will be our "bum" day. We try to set aside one day each weekend where we don't go crazy cleaning or running errands. I'd say we've been pretty good at the bum stuff today!

I tossed a load of clothes in the washer and laid down to read. I am re-reading a very old favorite, "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn" by Betty Smith. Reading this book gives me an appreciation for how far our country has come and all the blessings we have a century later than the setting for this book.

Because we grabbed a quick lunch at Johnny Rocket's neither of us are very hungry, so we are going to have a wonderful Carrot, Butternut Squash, Ginger soup with some beer bread that I made. Yummy!

Tomorrow is my last day of Winter Break, so I'm thinking about what that will be like. I want to stop at school and do a few things for Monday, then get my nails done. It's also time to get all of the Christmas decorations down and put away. It's always kind of sad, and bare, once they are packed back into the containers in the garage. Does anyone else feel that?

I had a short, but good chat with one of my wonderful friends from high school. She is going through a tough time with ovarian cancer. I know she can beat this! She is such a wonderful woman and has a great, supportive husband. She has so much to live for and I plan on having her for a friend for a long time to come.

I feel very blessed in so many ways these days. My husband, Scott is such a blessing in my life. He encourages me to do things that I want and need to do for myself. He's loving, kind, accepting, and always there. What a great gift! Not to mention the fact that he always makes me laugh. He is so upbeat and has an amazing quick wit about him. I love you, Scott!

Time to go get that soup going so we can have some sustenance this evening.
